The most common way that the doctor will go about this surgery is to start by removing excess tissue. The breast is then reshaped, and the nipple is then raised to a more natural position. After the procedure, breasts are smaller, and also lifted and usually show an improved contour. Bakersfield breast lift is similar but works on shape and position rather than reducing size.

This procedure is usually done as an outpatient. You will arrive to the surgery center in the morning and will be able to return home a few hours post surgery. You must have someone drive you home and stay with you the night of surgery. The surgery is done under general anesthesia.

After the procedure, there will be drains placed in your breasts. These drains require little maintenance and will help with your healing. Most patients are able to return to work one or two weeks following surgery. You may return to more strenuous activities three to six weeks following surgery. The scars take several months to a year to heal.
